Clinical Psychology

Sometimes it’s difficult to understand why we are feeling the way we do. We might be feeling anxious or depressed, stuck in compulsive behaviour patterns, having problems with our close relationships, or experiencing a wide range of other issues that are holding us back from thriving in life.

Psychology seeks to give you the guidance you need to find your way through the shadows. Its ultimate goal is to help you restore and strengthen your mental wellbeing, so you can live the full life you deserve.

Sellick Psychology in Ivanhoe offers experienced, compassionate clinical and registered psychologists for your mental health care.

Our psychologists are trained in a number of modalities that can help people that are dealing with various mental health issues. Depending on what particular challenges you’re experiencing and your goals for treatment, we are able to assess your situation and diagnose a suitable pathway for a positive resolution.

We understand that going to therapy can feel a bit daunting for those who haven’t had treatment before. Our psychologists provide a caring, supportive, and safe space for you to explore and understand who you are, why you are feeling this way, and what you can do about it.

As a client you will receive the guidance and support you need to address your challenges, as well as practical strategies and insights you can use to move forward. Our compassionate approach is underpinned by years of clinical training and practical experience.

EMDR Supervision and Consultation

EMDR Supervision and Consultation

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an exciting tool in clinical psychology that is an effective treatment for PTSD, depression and anxiety, and a range of other mental health disorders in people of all ages.

As an EMDRAA Accredited Consultant, Danielle offers EMDR supervision and consultation to psychologists and allied health professionals across Australia and overseas.

Supervision gives practitioners a safe space to review their clinical work and gain the professional insights of a more experienced practitioner. This is essential for building confidence and skills as an EMDR therapist.

By engaging in EMDR consultation, practitioners can explore different client challenges and find better outcomes for situations that may happen during a session, while increasing their awareness and skill as a professional in their field.

Danielle is passionate about EMDR Therapy. She believes in a trauma-focussed approach and is highly supportive of practitioners bringing EMDR into their clinical practice.

EMDR supervision and consultation sessions are available via telehealth and face to face, in a group or individual setting, and on an ‘as-needed’ basis or in a more structured format. Danielle generally sees consultees on a fortnightly or monthly basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no need to have a referral to see a psychologist at Sellick Psychology. However, if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need to get a referral from your GP or other medical professional. Then just give us a call on 0408 280 305 or email reception@sellickpsychology.com.au to arrange your appointment.

For psychologists and allied health professionals wanting to explore EMDR supervision and consultation with Danielle, please reach out at danielle@sellickpsychology.com.au.

During your first visit, your psychologist will ask questions to find out about the problem you’re facing, how long it’s been going on, and other information needed to gain an accurate overview of your situation. Then they will talk with you about your goals for therapy and suggest a plan for your treatment.
A typical Psychology session lasts around 50-60 mins. As for how many sessions you will need to resolve your issue, that depends largely on your treatment needs and therapy plan.

For more complex issues, a longer period of time attending sessions may be required. We will work with you to ensure that your sessions are aligned with your goals and progress toward them, and that you’re comfortable with your journey at all times.

If you have a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will receive $131.65 rebate per session with a clinical psychologist and $89.65 rebate per session with a registered psychologist, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (telehealth or in person). When these sessions are complete you may be eligible for an additional 10 sessions upon further assessment from your GP.

Please check with your private health insurance provider to find out if you are eligible for a rebate for Psychology services. If you are receiving the Medicare rebate, you will be unable to use your health insurance rebate at the same time.
