Frequently Asked Questions

There is no need to have a referral to see a psychologist at Sellick Psychology. However, if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need to get a referral from your GP or other medical professional. Then just give us a call on 0408 280 305 or email reception@sellickpsychology.com.au to arrange your appointment.

For psychologists and allied health professionals wanting to explore EMDR supervision and consultation with Danielle, please reach out at danielle@sellickpsychology.com.au.

During your first visit, your psychologist will ask questions to find out about the problem you’re facing, how long it’s been going on, and other information needed to gain an accurate overview of your situation. Then they will talk with you about your goals for therapy and suggest a plan for your treatment.
A typical Psychology session lasts around 50-60 mins. As for how many sessions you will need to resolve your issue, that depends largely on your treatment needs and therapy plan.

For more complex issues, a longer period of time attending sessions may be required. We will work with you to ensure that your sessions are aligned with your goals and progress toward them, and that you’re comfortable with your journey at all times.

If you have a GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will receive $131.65 rebate per session with a clinical psychologist and $89.65 rebate per session with a registered psychologist, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year (telehealth or in person). When these sessions are complete you may be eligible for an additional 10 sessions upon further assessment from your GP.

Please check with your private health insurance provider to find out if you are eligible for a rebate for Psychology services. If you are receiving the Medicare rebate, you will be unable to use your health insurance rebate at the same time.
